Grand Central is a large and lively complex of over 1,000 bedrooms in total, situated adjacent to Lime Street Station in the very heart of the city. It is a great choice for new students based at either of LJMU's city-centre campuses and is also popular with students based at the I M Marsh Campus because of the proximity to public transport links to that campus.
Because of the size and location of Grand Central, it tends to be chosen by new students who are coming to LJMU directly from school and college and hence very few older or postgraduate students choose to live there each year. New LJMU students make up well over half of the total resident population in each year.
Grand Central is unique in Liverpool as it offers some flats which feature shared bathroom facilities and some with en-suite facilities. All bedrooms in the en-suite flats feature private, en-suite bathrooms. Additionally the flats used by LJMU feature at least one slightly larger “premium” bedroom with a larger bed at a slightly higher cost.
Residents of Grand Central can use the onsite gym at no cost once they have paid £15 for a compulsory induction session.
