Product Innovation Show Alumni Opening Evening

“If you are a fan of innovation then this could be the event for you!”

LJMU alumni are invited to the second Product Innovation Show Alumni Opening Evening on Friday 25th May from 4.30pm.

The evening will highlight the best in innovation from over 90 1st , 2nd and 3rd year students on design-related programmes.The evening will be a good opportunity to network with fellow alumni over drinks and speak with the exhibitors as they personally guide you through the displays.

Amongst the projects selected for short list are: user-centred tablet computer design; digital photo locket; sports agility trainer; UV therapy device; modern walking aid; multi-sensory speaker system; ski binding design; dietary cookware solution; passive speaker system; hygienic cutting board; drum kit fixing mechanism; sustainable garden furniture; modular playground equipment; polo mallet development; visible light switch design and many more. There will also be a section that promotes our latest industrial live development projects with Abingdon Music Research.

The programmes aim to develop the innovative skills required by industry and each project is selected based on the level of innovation and creativity, the technical content and its commercial value. We describe this as being from “art to part”. The show is a celebration of student work and is open to all students.

Exhibiting subject areas cover product design, sports technology, automotive product development and a broad range of other 3D design projects. The skills presented include industrial design sketching, 3D solid and surface modelling, photo-realistic rendering and prototyping.

The first Product Innovation Show Alumni Reception was an engaging event. Alumnus Rob Fletcher said “We all enjoyed the Reception evening and were very impressed with the standard of design and presentation material”.

Mark Lawler added, “It was really good to see how the employees of tomorrow are turning out. Fellow alumni and I were all very impressed by the students and their work on show”.
