Digital Academic Records Exchange (DARE)
Summary
Project DARE will deliver a system for the secure on-line delivery of degree certificates, transcripts, Higher Education Achievement Reports and other student data and documents via Digitary as a Shared Service. The proposed
service will be suitable for deployment as Software as a Service on a hosted cloud platform.
The project is part of HEFCE and JISC initiative to deliver cloud-based services for UK Education and Research, with funding from the Universities Modernisation Fund.
The Digitary system has been selected as the basis for this bid as it is currently the only system that implements a solution for the HEAR that conforms to the JISC-CETIS specification based on electronic signatures and thereby provides the necessary open approach to ensure sustainability of the service in the long term.
The consortium brings together a range of partners with a variety of record systems. HESA, the Centre for Recording Achievement and the University of London Computing Centre are all supporting Project DARE. In addition eighteen other Universities have indicated and interest in evaluating the resulting service for implementation.
