Details on how to get to us if you visit.

 By Air

By air fly to either the Liverpool John Lennon Airport (7 miles from LJMU) or Manchester Airport (30 miles from LJMU). Direct flights to Manchester are available from most European cities and many other international airports. Flights direct to Liverpool are more restricted in terms of availability, but are likely to be cheaper and are obviously much closer. In addition, there is an excellent shuttle service between Manchester and London Heathrow airports. From Manchester Airport you can get a National Express coach (leaves every few hours) or train that will take you to Liverpool city centre from where the University (Byrom Street site) is just a few minutes walk. Alternatively you may wish to get a taxi from the Airport. A reliable taxi company is Delta Taxi's (Telephone +44-151-924-7373) who will take you from the airport to the University for about £30. It is best to book your taxi in advance and the driver will meet you at the airport. Taxis are also available directly at the airport, but they may be more expensive. The airport also has a number of car hire agencies, but again it is best to book car hire in advance.

 By Train

All mainline train services into Liverpool terminate at Liverpool Lime Street Station. Turn right out of the main pedestrian entrance/exit from Lime Street Station (onto Lime Street) and walk about 200 metres to "Wellington's Column" which is on the corner with William Brown Street. Turn left and walk down William Brown Street, to the roundabout at the Mersey Tunnel entrance. Turn right at the roundabout, onto Byrom Street, over a short walkway and you should arrive at the University Byrom Street Site. An A-Z map of Liverpool can normally be purchased from the shops inside Lime Street Station.

 By Coach

National Express coaches stop at the coach station on Norton Street, less than 5 minutes walk from the Byrom Street campus (See Map).

 By Car

The M6 is the main motorway running North-South through North-West England. Follow the M6 to junction 21A with the M62. Follow the M62 West to its end at Liverpool. On reaching the end of the motorway turn right onto Queens Drive (the Liverpool ring road) and continue for several miles to Mill Bank Road. Turn Left onto Mill Bank road and keep driving straight ahead. The road changes name several times becoming West Derby Road, Brunswick Road and then Islington. Continue directly ahead coming to a set of Traffic lights at a T-junction where you should keep to the right onto Byrom Street. The University building is on your right. In fact you have to drive a short distance past the University and follow the special U turn in the road to cross the dual-carriageway and double-back to the University entrance.

 Hotels

Liverpool has several large hotels, all of which are satisfactory. The Adelphi Hotel on Lime Street is near the City centre and the train station and just a few minutes walk from the Byrom Street University Building. The telephone number for the Adelphi hotel is +44-151-709-7200. You are advised to book in advance of your stay.

On Arrival at the Byrom Street Building

The main entrance to the Byrom Street Building faces onto Byrom Street. The main office of Microelectronics Research Group is on the 5th floor, room 518/519a and B04. If you get lost, phone extension (0151 231) 2363 (Prof J. F. Zhang), (0151 231) 2868 (Dr. W. Zhang), or 2289 on any internal LJMU telephone.
