Liverpool Logistics Offshore and Marine Research Institute (LOOM)

Welcome

The Liverpool Logistics, Offshore and Marine (LOOM) Research Institute, is the research arm of the Liverpool Maritime Academy . It has established itself as a world leading research unit in marine, offshore and transport studies. Today it has 11 full-time academic members and over 25 doctoral/postdoctoral researchers working on port operations, maritime logistics, inland navigation and transport safety management. The institute is equipped with the UK’s only 360 degree ship simulator and a wide range of transport modelling and safety decision making software, including the SCANNer and IDS (intelligent decision system). In the past ten years, the Institute has received the funding of more than £2m from the EPSRC, EU, HSE, industry, etc. to conduct maritime and port research and consequently, over 100 technical papers in maritime, port, logistics and transport have been produced.
