My main research interests lie in the sociology of personal life with a particular focus on intimate relationships, sexualities, love and commitment.

I am also interested in pedagogic issues, including innovative forms of assessment and feedback and the undergraduate student experience in the first and second years. 

I was awarded ESRC funding for my doctoral research, my research post at MMU was funded by the HEA, and my research into the experiences of second year undergraduates was awarded funding by C-SAP.  I completed my research training at the University of Manchester via a (ESRC recognized) Masters in Social Research Methods.
