Aerosol Delivery to Neonates with Respiratory Distress Syndrome
Mechanically ventilated neonates often develop respiratory distress syndrome which requires treatment with inhalers. Since conventional inhalers have not been successful, new approaches are being taken at the School of Pharmacy and Biomolecular Sciences to tackle this problem. Dr Touraj Ehtezazi and Professor James L. Ford from this School have started collaboration with Dr M. Turner at the Liverpool Women’s Hospital to employ the latest developments in electronics, pneumatics, and inkjet technology to enhance inhalation therapy in these small patients.
