Ian Cook is a Professor of Human Geography, specialising in China.  His four main research interests there are urbanisation, environmental problems and policies, health inequalities, and the elderly.  He has a range of book and journal publications, in Health Policy (2004 and 2007) for example or the Journal of Societal and Social Policy.  His latest book is an edited volume, New Perspectives on China and Aging, New York: Nova Science Publishers (with J. Powell).

Professor Cook also has considerable PhD supervision experience, with 16 PhDs successfully directed/co-supervised, plus 5 MPhils to date.

His current research includes comparative analysis of health inequalities and health care in India and China, plus work on longevity patterns across Asia.
