Biography
Dr Pensen studied pharmacy at the Welsh School of Pharmacy (MPharm) and graduated with first class honours in 2004. After a period of preregistration training in a community pharmacy, he qualified as a pharmacist (MRPharmS) in 2005. He then undertook PhD studies in the laboratory of Professor Ken Broadley in Cardiff receiving my PhD in 2009. His thesis was entitled ‘ß-adrenoceptor subtypes involved in myocardial preconditioning and postconditioning’. He took up my current post in February 2009.
Research
I am currently interested in the roles of adrenoceptors during myocardial ischaemia and reperfusion. I am developing collaborations with Professor K.J. Broadley and Dr W.R. Ford at the Welsh School of Pharmacy and with colleagues within Liverpool John Moores University.
