Email storage facilities

Email Storage

Personal Email Storage

All users are allocated a personal email address and associated mail storage. A personal mail box is intended to be used for personal communications only, it should not be used to store mail which may be require access by colleagues - public folders should be used for this purpose.

Public Folders

Mail messages which are to be dealt with by a staff work group should be emailed to and stored in an Exchange Public Folder which can be set up for shared access by members of a work group. If you require a public folder to be set up, please use the public folder setup request form.

Storage quotas

The size of each file storage is governed by a quota, which can be increased, on request, in increments up to 0.75 gigabytes free of charge. The default quotas are shown on the computing entitlements page.

Large storage requirements

Users whose email storage requirements are in excess of the maximum free of charge quota of 0.75 gigabytes can purchase additional capacity. This can be of any size and is allocated in 1Gb chunks. The costs for this are shown on the Storage, database & application hosting charges page.
