All LJMU users have access to high quality networked printers.

Most of these printers are "multi functional" devices (MFD), combining printing, copying and on some machines, scanning facilities in one compact unit. Linked to your university card, the service works on a simple "tap and print" approach:
  1. Tap your university card on the card reader.
  2. Your print jobs will be displayed on the device - select what you want to print and tap print
  3. Log off
  4. Staff printing is charged to the relevant department, student printing is charged to their Virtual Purse

Documents are held in a secure queue for 18 hours - after that time if they've not been printed they are automatically deleted from the queue, ensuring you only print what you need, saving you money, and paper too.

FollowMe printing - print from any LJMU printer quickly and easily

There are many printers available across the university which are "pooled" into a single queue called FollowMe. This allows a document to be released at any printer, no matter where it is located in the University. For example, you may be working in Aldham Robarts, but want to release the document in a completely different building - FollowMe allows you to do this. Whether you want to print in monochrome or colour, single sided or duplex, at any location, simply set the printing properties and then send the document to print.

Print from any location using Web based printing.

Unfortunately, this service is currently unavailable.

Using Web based printing it is possible to print on university printers via a simple web page. This can be using a laptop or from any web enabled computer connected anywhere in the world. Full details on how to use this new service are available from the Web based printing link, left.

Please note: the default setting on all printers is double sided, monochrome (black and white).

Large Format Printing A2-A0

High quality large format printers are available at the Learning Resource Centres at Aldham, Avril & IM Marsh. These devices print sizes from A0-A2 and are available for staff and students to use. Prices range from £2 to £7. NB Staff users will be charged to their departmental cost code so you may need to check that this is okay if printing many pages.

Staff

Staff also have access to high speed printing and finishes through the LJMU Central Print Unit and Ricoh externally. Further details available here. If you have booklets, specific quality required or many thousands of pages that you need doing the Document Production Centre can print these for you and deliver to your building.
