UK - Legal and Administrative Process (Grade 1 for Master)
The course is offered to master mariners holidng an STCW certificate issued by other flag states and who wish to apply for a Certificate of Equivalent Competency (CEC) for service on British registered vessels. Notice to Mariners M-1558 gives details of the requirements. Applicants need to demonstrate an effective use of written and spoken English.

- Health and Safety on board UK ships
- Documentation required for crewing arrangements
- List of certification and documentation for UK flagged vessels
- Role of MAIB
- Role and function of Maritime Coastguard Agency

Entry requirements: Applicants need to demonstrate an effective use of written and spoken English
Issue of certificate: Written examination of 2 hours 30 minutes. Also an oral examination.
