'Think of a number' star honoured
LJMU Honorary Fellowship for Johnny Ball
TV presenter Johnny Ball was overcome with emotion as he received an LJMU Honorary Fellowship in recognition of services to broadcasting and education.
The Fellowship was conferred during LJMU’s graduation ceremony for students from the Faculty of Education, Community and Leisure and the School of Exercise Science.
Johnny Ball has done more than most throughout his broadcasting career to popularise science and mathematics through programmes such as the BBC's 'Think of a Number' and 'Think Again'. Professor Frank Sanderson, the University's Orator, said: "Johnny Ball is an inspirational communicator, a broadcasting legend and populariser of science and mathematics with an uncanny ability to make the obscure and complex understandable in an entertaining way."

During his acceptance speech, he praised LJMU for the role it has played in the regeneration of the city and urged students to work hard and forget 'clock watching' in order to achieve success.
