Inclusion education goes global

03 December 2009

Professor Philip Vickerman, Professor of Inclusive Education and Learning in the Faculty of ECL, has recently delivered two research into practice seminars on special educational needs and inclusion to international government delegates in London.

The government participants came from Uganda, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Rwanda and South Africa. The aim of the inter-governmental research into practice seminars was to learn about inclusive education within the UK and how this practice could be disseminated to countries with less developed inclusion strategies.

As an outcome of the seminar series Philip will be liaising regularly with the international government departments over the coming year to support the countries in moving their inclusive education strategies forward.

This opportunity has come on the back of Philip's recent research work  with the Training Development Agency for Schools and Department for Children, Schools and Families.
