Social work students visit LJMU

The Centre for Social Work played host to students and staff from Antwerp last week.

Academic staff from the Centre for Social Work in Kingsway House welcomed 75 social work students and staff from the Artesis Hogeschool University who were on a fact finding tour of Merseyside gathering knowledge of social work practice in the UK. The group participated in several hours of learning activities considering recent developments in social policy relating to social work.

Martin Sheedy, Social Work Programme Leader, said: “The staff involved at this end really enjoyed our time with our visitors from Antwerp and were very impressed with the confidence and contributions of the students. We are developing links with European universities through Erasmus and these visits will hopefully lead to other forms of collaboration.”

Another group of students from the Upper Austria University of Applied Sciences will be received at the Centre for Social Work in April this year.
