High accolades for LJMU KTP

05 October 2010

An LJMU Knowledge Transfer Partnership has been awarded a rare accolade by being awarded a Grade A.

The successful two-year KTP between LJMU’s School of Engineering and Risktec Solutions Ltd focused on developing unique training programmes in Risk and Safety Management, up to MSc level.

The programme of qualifications is delivered by Risktec’s consultants, who are all practising risk professionals, and it is accredited by LJMU.

Commenting on the project earlier this year, Steve Lewis, Director at Risktec and Industrial Supervisor for the KTP, said: "The main benefit of the KTP project was in developing the training business in a more planned and deliberately paced way than would otherwise have happened. The flexible programme and qualifications developed with LJMU allow us to offer something truly unique in the market."

Of the 400+ KTPs completed across the UK every year, only approximately 6/7% are awarded a Grade A. As well as being a significant achievement in its own right, this grading means that the partnership is eligible for a ‘Best Partnership’ award in the national KTP Awards.

Jo Pritchard, IP Manager, Business Development Centre, said: "LJMU has experienced considerable success at these awards over recent years and we hope to continue our strong track record with further acknowledgement of the Risktec partnership."
