The GDC has set up a World of Work (WoW) micro-website specifically aimed at final year students who will be graduating soon and heading into the working world. The site features information about gaining the WoW Skills Certificate, why students should “do it” in the words of fellow students, and dates/times of WoW Boot Camps and Ready for Work sessions.

Know any recent unemployed graduates looking to bridge the gap to employment? Tell them about the Graduate Accelerator Programme. The week long, FREE Graduate Accelerator Programme (GAP), delivered at the Graduate Development Centre, has been extended until September 2011. Participants develop skills in Self Awareness, Organisational Awareness and Making Things Happen with all sessions delivered by experienced professionals. Workshops include creative job-hunting, CV writing, application forms and preparing for interviews. Participants have a one-to-one meeting with a careers adviser, a CV clinic and an opportunity to do a  practice interview conducted by a specialist in graduate employment.
Sign up via the GAP website or visit the GAP Facebook page for more information and videos about the programme.

The GDC’s Employability Advisers are available to speak to students, either at the GDC or in the Learning Resource Centres. They can offer CV advice, help with postgraduate study applications, as well as providing information about completing the WoW Skills Certificate. If you need more in depth advice and guidance, they can also book you in for an appointment with a GDC Careers Adviser.
