Student Loans Company email warning
15 April 2011
The Student Loans Company have issued the following statement warning students not to reply to emails asking them to confirm their security and banking details.
We are aware that some students have been targeted by “phishing” emails. We often find that there is an increase in the frequency of these emails just before instalment dates. The emails look like they have come from the Student Loans Company or Student Finance England and ask students to click on a link to confirm their security and banking details in order to receive payments.
The Student Loans Company or Student Finance England will never send emails to customers asking them to confirm their security and banking details.
Students should not respond to these emails and should forward them to phishing@slc.co.uk so that we can trace the emails and work on closing the websites down as quickly as possible.
