Liverpool Screen School is ‘Not Part Of’ this July

On 7 July, staff and students from LJMU's Screen School will be heading to Manchester’s Northern Quarter, to be ‘Not Part Of’, with a unique, one night only performance.
The 2011 ‘Not Part Of’ festival takes over Manchester for 17 days, from 30 June to 16 July, with 158 events, around 800 artists, across 48 venues, showcasing an eclectic group of performers and celebrating grassroots arts communities.
Liverpool Screen School will be presenting ‘deconstructing voices’, a collaboration across the School, fusing live and pre-recorded original poetry with accompanying multimedia elements, including VJ-ing, screen and digital technologies. Taking the concept of 'place' as a starting point, the evening pushes the boundaries of poetry performance, incorporating sound, film and video art ... and lots of music. The evening brings together a unique blend of expertise from established artists and performers working alongside emerging creative talent.

"Not Part Of’ is a great opportunity for the School, both staff and students, to work together in an unrestricted way, across the borders of disciplines and expertise. It’s an excellent chance for the School to contribute to an exciting, edgy festival, demonstrating the creative potential that thrives within the North West, and also for the staff and students involved to showcase the creativity that stems from this kind of collaboration. More than anything, though, it promises to be fun, celebrating the work of students and staff with a wider audience, at a great venue in a great festival".
