Black History Month
07 October 2011
Black History Month is a national celebration that takes place every October with the aim of promoting and celebrating the contributions of Black, Asian and Ethnic Minorities (BME) to British Society.
It is also a time to stop and reflect; and to discuss the diversity of the black community to foster a better understanding of BME issues.
A number of exciting events including performances, talks, music, dance, and craft workshops are taking place in venues across Liverpool and LJMU throughout this month. The University’s Widening Access team and the Equality and Diversity team are actively involved in the activities of Liverpool Black History Month Steering Group - both teams are attending the Black Achievers Award night scheduled to take place on 29th October 2011 in St Georges Hall.
