Recent Film Studies graduates Hannah Quinn and Adam Wright are celebrating a night of success after their film Sertoli, Sertoli, Sertoli premiered at the Bafta Piccadilly London headquarters.
Hannah (producer) and Adam (co-director) with his friend Owen Williams completed the film late last year and used professional actors. One of the cast, established television actress Kiki Kendrick, with credits in Holby, The Office and Spooks, was so impressed with the results that she invited them to screen the film at a Bafta event.
Film Studies lecturer Dr Corin Willis who joined them at the event commented: “Hannah and Adam didn’t actually know each other as students because they were in different years. I was aware that they had both taken their first steps in the film world and I invited them to share their experiences with our first years at a freshers event. Not only did they enthrall the students but they also found that they had common creative interests and Sertoli, Sertoli, Sertoli is the result of that meeting of minds.”
“Hannah, Adam and Owen, are regular faces around LJMU's Screen School as we continue to offer help where we can. They are also involved in ventures with North West Vision and the North West Regional Development Agency and this is exactly the kind of local networking environment that we hope continues to emerge for our graduates as a result of the Skillset Media Academy status that the Screen School recently achieved.”
Since the event last week Hannah, Adam and Owen have learned that their film will be screened at the prestigious Raindance Film Festival and that there is also the possibility of a second Bafta screening which might give the film eligibility for Bafta nomination.
This latest film success for LJMU graduates follows the news that another student from Adam’s 2006 Film Studies cohort, Claire Foy, was cast in the starring role in the BBC’s production of Little Dorrit last autumn. Claire is currently filming Season of the Witch with Hollywood actor Nicholas Cage.
