Business School work placement students give guidance

21 February 2012

Business School students on work placements took time out from their day jobs to give advice to fellow students about how to apply for similar schemes, as well as providing some insight into working life.Employers were also at the Placement Fair to raise awareness of work placement opportunities, advising Level 4 and 5 students about potential vacancies and giving them guidance on how to succeed in the application process. CV and application support was provided by the Employability Advisers from LJMU's World of Work Careers Centre (formerly the Graduate Development Centre).

Liverpool Business School students are currently in placements at several high profile organisations including Toys R Us, Liverpool Direct, Liverpool John Lennon Airport, Shop Direct, Matalan, Intel, Aldi, Eli Lilly, National Grid, Porsche, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Hill Dickinson. Their roles span many different areas including marketing, retail, PR, communications, purchasing and operations, finance, human resources and IT.

Lauren Ashall, Accounting and Finance student, is currently halfway through her work placement at National Grid. She attended with her employers Sarah Burke, Finance Manager, and Sandeep Khatkar, Senior Finance Analyst, who said they were so impressed with Lauren that they were hoping another talented LJMU student would apply for a placement. They commented:

"Lauren is doing fantastically well. She is great to have around, has fitted in well and grasps everything very quickly - she is a credit to her university."
