Graduate Fashion show success
25 May 2012
The 2012 Fashion cohort wowed visitors to the LJMU graduate catwalk shows, with invited guests and members of the public enjoying the eclectic collections.
Held annually, the graduate fashion shows give final year students the chance to showcase their work on the catwalk, with professional models wearing their collections.
Ranging from designs based on traditional children’s fairytales to a collection inspired by Middle Eastern architecture, the collections produced by the 18 students demonstrated creativity, not only in their concept but in the use of varying textures, design techniques and silhouettes.
Carol Ry
der, Senior Lecturer in BA (Hons) Fashion, commented: “This year’s students are, as ever, outstanding, and the work they have produced is of an extremely high quality. The 2012 cohort have used sophisticated colour palettes and the collections employ classic styling as well as sculptural silhouettes and a wide range of textures.”
World renowned hairdresser, Andrew Collinge, sponsored the fashion shows for the ninth year running, with his team from Andrew Collinge Graduates working on the models’ hair and make-up.
Also at the Art and Design Academy until Friday 1 June, will be an open exhibition to view the work of all of this year’s graduates from the University’s School of Art and Design, including graduates of Architecture, Fine Art, Graphic Arts, Interior Design, Popular Music Studies and Product Design, as well as Fashion (Communication) and Fashion (Design). This is free to attend and will be open from 12pm to 6pm daily. No booking is required..jpg)
