LJMU named as Higher Education Social Entrepreneurship Partner
10 August 2012
Social entrepreneurship is a rapidly growing movement within the HE sector and LJMU's Centre for Entrepreneurship has been chosen as a pioneering partner for the UnLtd and HEFCE HE Support Initiative.
Over the next twelve months, LJMU will work with UnLtd to develop a support structure which places social entrepreneurship at the heart of the institution, as well as giving staff and students the chance to start up a social venture.
LJMU is one of 54 Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in England to partner with UnLtd on this initiative to embed a culture of social entrepreneurship within their institution and across the Higher Education sector. The final list of all selected HEI partners can be viewed at www.unltd.org.uk/hesupport
In practice this new partnership will mean up to £40,000 will be available to directly support students, staff and recent graduates developing and running projects and ventures with social aims.
The Centre for Entrepreneurship is particularly keen to support with students developing projects as part of their studies – if you lead a programme or module that has a project or venture element which potentially has social aims, please contact Emma Hunter e.hunter@ljmu.ac.uk or 0151 231 3303.
