Students arrive at LJMU International Study Centre
20 August 2012
International students from all over the world have arrived at the LJMU International Study Centre ahead of their courses starting in order to improve their English language skills.
In July and August each year, LJMU offers pre-sessional English courses for international students who have been accepted onto undergraduate or postgraduate programmes on the basis that their English language skills are improved to meet entry requirements.
Pre-sessional courses are specialist courses to prepare international students for study. Only those who already hold an offer to study at LJMU may apply for these courses or those who have been given an offer on the condition that they improve their English.
Four week blocks of study are offered, each aiming to improve students' IELTS 'scores' by 0.5 to a maximum of 1.5 via a 12 week course.
The current cohort includes students from across the world including students from Chinese Universities with whom LJMU has established partnerships, such as Zhejiang University of Media and Communications in Hangzhou who are looking forward to starting their MA in International News Journalism in the new Redmond's Building.
Students also include those from Beijing Institute of Economic Management which has a collaborative arrangement with Liverpool Business School for their students to enter into LJMU Accounting and Finance and Business Management programmes.
Pre-sessional English courses are offered each summer. For more information, please visit the website or call Andrew Rennie, National and International Account Manager in the Commercial and International Directorate on 07968422586 or email a.rennie@ljmu.ac.uk
