LibQual Laptop winner
05 February 2009
Simon Cormack, a Level One History student at LJMU, won a brand new laptop last week for taking part in the LibQual online survey.
LibQual is an international standard online survey that measures perceptions of academic library services. Learning and Information Services (LIS) ran the survey online throughout November, in order to get some quality feedback from a critical mass of our customers (both staff and students). The survey is different in that it doesn’t measure customer satisfaction in particular aspects of the service, but rather asks questions about what a customers perceived level of service is against their desired level of service.
With this in mind the results of the LibQual survey will allow LIS to focus on how we promote and publicise particular services and facilities as well as using the evidence to inform our overall service development initiatives.
Simon was delighted after receiving the email confirming him as the winner of the prize draw: “I showed my mates but nobody believed me. I’ve never won anything before in my life until now.”
LIS decided to offer an attractive incentive so that we could guarantee a good response rate, and this was certainly the case – there were around 1,500 responses to the survey.
