New volunteering opportunities

11 March 2009

Merseyside Police and Aintree University Hospitals are looking for volunteers.

Aintree University Hospitals

Aintree University Hospitals are seeking participants to take part in a 10K run in Croxteth Park on Sunday 22 March. The run is being held to raise awareness of diabetes.  The hospitals are hoping to get a lot of people involved for what should be a really enjoyable event, as well as helping to raise funds for a worthy cause.  The run starts at 11am and the closing date for entries is Monday 16 March.

Aintree are also offering the chance to join their enthusiastic and dedicated volunteering team.  There are a variety of roles available from speaking to patients and assisting staff, to helping with clerical or IT work in the volunteer office.  These are excellent opportunities if you want to learn new skills, meet new people, gain an insight into working in an NHS environment or just simply give something back to your local community.

Merseyside Police

Merseyside Police are currently recruiting Special Constables throughout the area. Specials are volunteers who provide valuable assistance to the Police, helping the Force’s front line efforts to improve the lives of everyone in our communities.  The benefits of being a Special Constable include opportunities for personal development and achievement, meeting new people and learning new skills, experiencing policing at first hand and the potential for a career path to the police service.

If you are interested in any of these opportunities, or would like an application form for the run in Croxteth Park, please let us know by emailing volunteering@ljmu.ac.uk or phoning 231 3159.  Alternatively, you can visit our drop in service which is open from Monday to Wednesday 10m-4pm in the Liverpool Students’ Union, first floor, room 3.
