Universiti Malaya partnership

07 May 2009

LJMU recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Universiti Malaya (UM).

Group photograph at the MoULJMU was represented at the signing by Michele Ibbs, Pro Vice-Chancellor (Marketing and International), and UM by Professor Datuk Dr Mohd Amin, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International).

The MoU signals the beginning of an exciting collaboration in developing a model to increase graduate employability. This new but fast developing relationship between UM and LJMU is testament to the shared objectives of both universities to respond to the competitiveness of globalisation where students need both academic and industry-ready skills.

Senior UM academic staff will be visiting LJMU and our Graduate Development Centre in May to better understand the University’s WoW initiative and the positive impact it is having on the student experience.

Another initiative being explored is the provision of a joint Doctorate qualification, initially centred around the universities' respective Engineering departments. LJMU and UM are also looking at organising student exchange and joint research programmes. The first event in this area is a joint Engineering research seminar being held in UM at the end of June.
