Qualitative doctoral workshop
15 May 2009
LJMU’s School of the Built Environment played host to over 70 doctoral and postdoctoral researchers at a workshop on construction management this week.
The focus of the day was the use of qualitative approaches to research design and data analysis. Attendees, from both UK and international universities, received presentations on works in progress, completed projects and the range of techniques demonstrated in construction management.
The research workshop was organised by Dr Andrew Ross, Head of Postgraduate Studies and a committee member of the Association of Researchers for Construction Management (ARCOM), who commented: “It was fantastic to chair an event of such quality. The contributors gave presentations which ranged from the effectiveness of health and safety measures, to interventions to incentivise construction supply chains.”
“This was the second workshop the School has chaired, the first considering quantitative methods last year. The popularity of the event demonstrated that doctoral students urgently require guidance and training in the research methodology and methods.”
Copies of the proceeding and presentations are available for downloading from the ARCOM website: http://www.arcom.ac.uk/
