The shows are a great opportunity to spot emerging artistic talent and every year attract thousands of visitors, including professional artists, designers, supporters from the creative industries and potential future employers.

This year’s venue for the exhibitions is LJMU’s new £27 million Art and Design Academy, giving visitors an exclusive preview of the new building before it is formally opened later in the year when it is fully operational and landscaping is completed.

The exhibition started on Friday with the Fashion students’ catwalk shows. From 10am to 4pm every day up until to Friday 29 May, including the Bank Holiday, all work from students of Architecture, Graphic Arts, Interior Design, Product Design, Fine Art, Textiles and Fashion will be on display.

Martin Downie, Director of LJMU's School of Art and Design, said: "This is a great opportunity for visitors to view the impressive work of our students and see if they can spot the country’s next big names in the art and design world. This year we also have the fantastic backdrop of the new Art and Design Academy which provides a brilliant setting for the shows."

All are invited to attend the free exhibitions. For more information, call 0151 904 1280.

LJMU’s Art and Design Academy is situated on Duckinfield Street, accessible via Mount Pleasant or Brownlow Hill.
