Students WoW soldiers
29 June 2009
The Graduate Development Centre sent LJMU students to participant in the Army’s Leadership Skills weekend at Sywnnerton Training Camp, Staffordshire, as part of a WoW Self Awareness and Graduate Skills development course.
The weekend gave the students to pit their skills against students from other particpating universities - and gained a chance to learn and develop their skills in oral communication, teamwork, problem solving and general leadership. They took part in several challenges, including command task scenarios, military obstacle courses and physical training.
Throughout the weekend the students were scored on their challenges. LJMU students won the overall competition and were presented with prizes from Lt Col David Young.
The students each came away with a individual feedback based on their plan and performance from their syndicate mentors, a CMI-approved personal development plan and a certificate of achievement. The students had an enjoyable challenging weekend as well as the chance to socialise with other university students and University Officers Training Corp students.
The Graduate Development Centre and the Army will be repeating this event next year and students from all disciplines are welcome to attend.
