Social Work Employer’s Event

The Graduate Development Centre recently hosted and organised the Social Work Employer’s Event in collaboration with Robert Banton, Head of Social Work, Childhood and Adolescence Studies programmes at LJMU.
The event gave students a chance to network with organisations and agencies in the Social Work industry. Several employers attended including:
- Liverpool City Council
- Reed Social Care
- Semester Recruitment
Alongside the exhibition room there were talks and Q&A sessions delivered by guest speakers from Marie Curie and Liverpool City Council. The talks gave students an insight into how the speakers progressed to their present roles, what it is like to work in their organisation, tips and advice on the social work industry and the skills they look for in a graduate. The WoW Delivery team were also on hand with information about World of Work and CV writing tips and checks.
The day was successful for both employers and students - several students made new contacts and placements have also been offered for the next academic year.
