Good Citizen school children

48 Knowsley schoolchildren and young people had their good citizenship recognised at a ceremony last week at Knowsley Hall.

The citizenship winners on the steps of Knowsely HallThe LJMU awards in Knowsley schools are sponsored by Arriva North West, and the bronze trophies and certificates were presented by Professor David Alton, Director of the Roscoe Foundation for Citizenship, and Phil Stone, Managing Director of Arriva North West.

In attendance were the Mayor and Mayoress of Knowsley, Cllrs Dave and Sarah Smithson, George Howarth MP and Damian Allen, Executive Director for Children’s Services, who read out the citations. 

The children received the awards for coping with serious illnesses, supporting members of their families, being involved in the Schools Parliament or Schools Council and for being playground 'buddies'. To see the full list of citations click here

Professor Alton said: "The award ceremonies highlight the best in young people, and they all deserve the recognition this ceremony offers them. We are delighted that Arriva North West has sponsored the award ceremony for the last nine years."

Pictured on the steps of Knowsley Hall are all 48 good citizens together with Cllrs Sarah, Dave Smithson, Phil Stone, Damian Allen, Professor David Alton and George Howarth MP.

This week 25 primary school children will be presented with their citizenship awards at a ceremony at St Helens Theatre Royal.
