Research Centres and Institutes

The designation of a University Research Centre or Research Institute is an institutional acknowledgement of the quality in research programmes and activities within a discipline. The criteria associated with establishing a Centre or Institute are primarily related to:
(a) the overall quality of research and related activities, and
(b) the delivery of a sustainable and vibrant research environment in which research is conducted.
The attached document provides guidance and details of the application and review procedure for Centres and Institutes in the University. This was approved by the University Research and Scholarship Committee in February 2013 and by the University's Strategic Management Team in March 2013.
