Funding for research students
There is some Government funding to support research into specific areas, but there is significant competition for the awards.
The Research Councils are:
- The Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC)
- The Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC)
- The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC)
- The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC)
- The Medical Research Council (MRC)
- The National Environment Research Council (NERC)
- The Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC)
