(Strategic) Planning and Budgeting Guidelines
The EFQM (European Foundation for Quality Management) Excellence Model self-assessment exercise and the Quality Audit report, drawing on the self-assessment of academic and service provision, implicitly involve review of risk areas. Findings from these exercises inform the planning process and are factors in defining strategic intentions and in annual budgeting.
A Risk Appraisal template was introduced in 2003 for a more extensive analysis of risk in the planning and budgeting process at springtime. The template helps to provide the foundation for local risk registers because it prompts identification and evaluation of risks, management/treatment of risk and assessment of resource and other implications of any action to manage risks.
