Summer University 2011

Tuesday 5th - Thursday 7th July 2011

The Class of 2011 at Liverpool John Moores University is a fast-paced, fun taste of student life, designed to get you involved in a subject area of your choice, develop new skills and make lots of new friends along the way.

If you decide to attend the Class of 2011, you will have the chance to choose from a range of exciting subject areas such as; Animation & Graphic Arts, Food & Nutrition, Law & Criminal Justice, Psychology or Sport Science & Coaching.

All of the programmes will give you a very real idea of how students study whilst at university and include a range of interactive, task-based activities. You could be visiting the Liverpool Crown Courts, designing and making your own piece of animation or learning about the science behind healthy eating and then working in our state of the art kitchen facilities to put your knowledge to the test! The Class of 2011 will be a chance for you to try subjects which you may never have considered studying and give you a real taste of university life.

It’s not all about studying though! Each evening will include a social activity of your choice, such as bowling, a trip to the theatre or sport. After you have worked up an appetite we will then be eating out at a city centre restaurant, followed by either a quiz or disco and karaoke.

You will stay at LJMU for three days and two nights and will have your own en-suite bedroom, in a real student flat. All you have to bring is your clothes, toiletries and an open mind!

Here are a few quotes from last year’s students:
• I learned how to cook properly in Nutrition and now I will really concentrate on getting the GCSEs I want!
• Uni is completely different to what I thought and to what I’d been told!
• I have more confidence and learned that I shouldn’t be scared of trying new things Student life is tiring…but fun!
• Uni is so good! I had a great time today; had tea out and have just got back from watching Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the theatre and it was ace!
• Definitely come, it’s the best experience you’ll have and you will meet loads of new friends!

The Class of 2011 will be an experience you will never forget!

NB - Participating schools will be notified by their Aimhigher Borough Coordinator by November 2010
